Maybe. I find myself sitting in front of my computer googling “how to get fit post-pregnancy” while simultaneously eating a cinnamon roll with 2 tbsp of butter melted on top and drinking a 16oz. hottie with coconut flavoring and whipped cream on top. HA! And the worst part… I don’t care! I really want to though, so I’m working on that. My big problem is this right here.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-jX0bK1zMOAQ/Tq3-6bNFAzI/AAAAAAAABmg/rm3ERBV3ivA/s1600-h/304162_10150404442600211_594365210_10629696_2119314905_n%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="304162_10150404442600211_594365210_10629696_2119314905_n" border="0" alt="304162_10150404442600211_594365210_10629696_2119314905_n" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-l_ao1czOyhs/Tq3-9LjEqhI/AAAAAAAABmo/ixYsl-y0qDU/304162_10150404442600211_594365210_10629696_2119314905_n_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="164" /></a></p> <p align="center">I mean, seriously, just look at those cheeks. Can you really blame me? Those babies need to be kissed on 24/7. Oh and then there are these two.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-9X6POYgnS2w/Tq3-_tL6HdI/AAAAAAAABmw/jllSljrQ7dc/s1600-h/311525_10150388484855211_594365210_10539655_1755000497_n%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="311525_10150388484855211_594365210_10539655_1755000497_n" border="0" alt="311525_10150388484855211_594365210_10539655_1755000497_n" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/--jEsZXXjCoU/Tq3_AEN22VI/AAAAAAAABm4/es3FA67kPfY/311525_10150388484855211_594365210_10539655_1755000497_n_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="164" height="244" /></a></p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-cKVH2_QaR7g/Tq3_B0Os9AI/AAAAAAAABnA/LZEuSM51pog/s1600-h/IMG_0621%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="IMG_0621" border="0" alt="IMG_0621" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-wgbqFMqgFXM/Tq3_DBuQC7I/AAAAAAAABnI/RZpaaSkGy6M/IMG_0621_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="164" /></a></p> <p align="center">You would never know that those handsome little faces can cause so much mischief!</p> <p align="center">But anyway, my point is, I have zero motivation right now and with my shoppe starting to take off (can I tell you there is no better advertisement then toting around an adorable baby with a big ol’ flower in her full head of hair?!!) I’m finding myself with little time to take care of the things that probably need to be attended to. At this point I would like to give a shout-out to my amazingly sweet hubby who has yet to mention the fact that sometimes you can’t see the floor in our living room, and still says I’m beautiful even though I feel anything but.</p> <p align="center">So I’ve decided that it’s time I start making a few changes and I figure that starting with myself is as good a thing as any. I’ll tell you that the Spanx just aren’t holding it all in right now. Speaking of Spanx, isn’t that just a miracle garment in itself!! I’m going to have to give them their own post later on. Here is my problem. What do I do to get myself going? Obviously the googling did nothing to help me. It’s cold outside, gyms are expensive-o, and my double jogging stroller doesn’t hold all of my babies anymore. I can put the little miss in the wrap and push the boys, but again with the cold outside. Would you like to hear any more excuses? I’ve found I’m pretty good at coming up with them. </p> <p align="center">My decision right now is that I’m going to start doing Jillian Michael’s 30 day shred.</p> <p align="center"><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Gm-4kOjzlew/Tq3_ERXeakI/AAAAAAAABnQ/YhTfXNp0FNQ/s1600-h/51QlqI3yaOL__SL500_AA300_%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="51QlqI3yaOL__SL500_AA300_" border="0" alt="51QlqI3yaOL__SL500_AA300_" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-4eXlNU3tja0/Tq3_GvuxLgI/AAAAAAAABnY/7tBDfdcsjdY/51QlqI3yaOL__SL500_AA300__thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="244" /></a></p> <p align="center">Have you ever tried it? One word- Brutal. I fell down once trying to do high knees. I like that kind of workout because that means it’s working. Right?? Haha. Oh well. So here’s to motivation. The cover says I can lose 20 lbs in 30 days. Not likely that I will do it in 30 days, but I’m currently 7 weeks post-partum and my goal is to lose 20-25lbs by February, or March, or anytime before baby #4 makes its way into the oven. See? I’m flexible. And now I’m curious, to all you mommies out there, young or old, new or seasoned, what do you do, or do you do nothing at all? I’d love to hear about it, let me know that it’s not just me!</p> <div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1346025251456706121-6483717379467976400?l=scrapsnstrings.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Sammy Richinshttps://profiles.google.com/105804183097629154708noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1346025251456706121.post-85244613485521480002011-10-20T21:20:00.002-06:002011-10-20T21:21:14.452-06:002011-10-20T21:21:14.452-06:00Here We Go<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So, it's been a while. Life has kind of taken over, and I'm okay with that. My family is where my priorities need to be. This craft blog was started with a lot of high hopes, but it was also started having no idea what it takes to keep a blog like this going. Coming up with enough projects to keep content up takes a lot of time. A whole lot of time. And with 3 little ones now all 3 and under, I wasn't having a whole lot to spare. So I took a hiatus for a while, not sure if I was going to come back at all. But I miss it. I miss the interactions with readers, having something outside of my home to be involved in.</span></div>
<div align="center">
<span style="font-family: Arial;">So I'm back, but things are going to be a little different around here. I'm still going to be doing some crafts every now and then, but I think I'm going to add a little more life into my blog. My experiences as a mom of 3, a wife to a sexy soldier, a newfound shop owner trying to figure out the ins and outs of growing a business. My life consists of Batman and Superman, failed attempts at pottytraining, trying to keep a clean house with rugrats running rampant, making goodies to satisfy a housefull of sweet-tooths. I would love for you all to join me as I try this out. I want feedback, interactions, opinions. I hope that you stick around!</span></div>

This.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-myvM-93pnLI/TYLSVM0BKcI/AAAAAAAABi0/3K_wgPvUtFc/s1600/DSCN7207%255B1%255D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" r6="true" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-myvM-93pnLI/TYLSVM0BKcI/AAAAAAAABi0/3K_wgPvUtFc/s320/DSCN7207%255B1%255D.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Yes that is my couch. I'd like to say that it usually looks better than that, but in all honesty, it is usually much worse. I mean, only one to managed to make it's way into the picture! I lived there for about 5 days, starting last Wednesday. That is the day that the kidney infection officially set in. Have you ever had one? They suck sooooo bad! I went into the doc on Thursday and was put on antibiotics, and pain meds. They helped a lot with the pain and all the other junk that goes along with a kidney infection (UTI, blood in the urine, yadda yadda yadda) but they didn't help with the puking that decided to set in. I puked up every single thing that I was able to get down, which wasn't much. 2 pieces of toast on Thursday, 4 saltines and a cup of milk on Friday, and 4 more saltines on Saturday. By the time Saturday night came around I found myself at the urgent care on IV's. I was back in on Sunday morning for more and finally by Monday morning I was feeling better! Wahoo! Well for a minute. Urgent care wanted me back on Monday morning and thought it would be better to be safe then sorry and decided to give me a shot of the antibiotics they had been giving me through the IV's. So then I ended up here.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--G2AChKq8YU/TYLS23o5u-I/AAAAAAAABi4/Q4T4OxufM94/s1600/DSCN7208.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" r6="true" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--G2AChKq8YU/TYLS23o5u-I/AAAAAAAABi4/Q4T4OxufM94/s320/DSCN7208.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Why you might ask? Because they give you that antibiotic shot in your butt. SOOOO painful!!!! I can just imagine the coversation the doctor had who invented giving shots in the butt.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">DOC: Hey nurse, I'm bored so I have this great idea.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">NURSE: Alright doc, what is it.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">DOC: It's like this, when you go give that guy his antibiotic shot, you should do it in his butt!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">NURSE: Ok doc, but why?</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">DOC: Because that way, we can laugh every time he has to sit funny, <em>and</em> have a good laugh when we get to watch him walk out like a goon!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">NURSE: Good one, doc, good one.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Yeah, I'm pretty sure that they had that conversation. So because of that funny doctor, I have reparked myself in my living room, only this time I'm on the recliner, sitting on a heating pad, doing a whole lot of nothing at all. Good times. So here's to feeling better, and possibly starting a brotherhood of all of those who have had a shot in the butt, because until you've had one, it is impossible to understand.</span></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1346025251456706121-589407129879567114?l=scrapsnstrings.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Sammy Richinshttps://profiles.google.com/105804183097629154708noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1346025251456706121.post-32575243325414772192011-02-02T22:59:00.002-07:002011-02-02T22:59:18.927-07:002011-02-02T22:59:18.927-07:00Family Home Evening ChartHello everyone! Well here is my first post of the year. Didn't Sammy do such a great job on her Prairie Princess skirt and accessories? And those Conversation Hearts are so adorable. <br />
<br />
Here is my first crafty thing really that I've made this year! A magnetic Family Home Evening chart. I've been searching the internet high and low for the past few weeks for some ideas, but finally decided to just come up with my own! <br />
<br />
I had some other pictures I wanted to share, but unfortunately my memory card in my camera decided to call it quits and I lost all of those pictures--so all I have is the final product:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gvmIz7s8v2o/TUo_RJZi8AI/AAAAAAAADb0/DwSK6RwBHIc/s1600/IMG_7183smaller.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gvmIz7s8v2o/TUo_RJZi8AI/AAAAAAAADb0/DwSK6RwBHIc/s640/IMG_7183smaller.jpg" width="512" /></a></div><br />
<br />
It was very simple and quick to make, and the best part--it totaled less than $10, including some supplies I had on hand! Here is what I did:<br />
<br />
Supplies--<br />
<br />
1 small magnetic board (I got an 8.5x11 from WalMart for under $3)<br />
Cardstock<br />
ModgePodge<br />
Printer<br />
Cute magnets (These square magnets were also from Wal-Mart, for around $5 I believe)<br />
<br />
I made the actual design in Photoshop. If you would like to download and print for yourself, click on the picture below to view full size and save to your computer!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gvmIz7s8v2o/TUpAbBhKNcI/AAAAAAAADb4/PBbkMJ22n8c/s1600/FHE.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_gvmIz7s8v2o/TUpAbBhKNcI/AAAAAAAADb4/PBbkMJ22n8c/s400/FHE.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>After I printed the design onto thick cardstock, I trimmed the sides so that it would fit inside the frame. Then I used a layer of ModgePodge to adhere it to the magnetic board. I didn't use ModgePodge on the front of the design, just the back--I have found that it will make the ink run if you try to use it on paper you printed on your personal printer. Another option I just thought of for this, you could totally send the design as an 8x10 to your photo print shop--that way you can use ModgePodge on the front for a little more durability. For the last part, I printed out all of our names on the same thick cardstock. After trimming the name strips, I was done! <br />
<br />
Let me know if you use this design or if you have a cute Family Home Evening chart that you have designed! We would love to feature it if you do--send a picture of it to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #53473e; font-family: Georgia, serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;">paisleyandmeblog (at) hotmail (dot) com. </span><br />

It's not actually what I was planning on doing (I'll get that one up later) but this idea popped into my head and I just had to get them done! Welcome to the </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="color: #cc0000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;">Conversation Heart Frames</span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">{for <span style="color: #990000;">V-Day</span>}</span></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TUBmLqFKITI/AAAAAAAABik/tqD8FBZyFoE/s1600/DSCN4728%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="288" s5="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TUBmLqFKITI/AAAAAAAABik/tqD8FBZyFoE/s320/DSCN4728%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">So to start out, cut a heart pattern out of some card stock (easy-peasy)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X0sLp6NI/AAAAAAAABiA/kF8jFksFBJ4/s1600/DSCN4704.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="302" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X0sLp6NI/AAAAAAAABiA/kF8jFksFBJ4/s320/DSCN4704.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Next take 3 different fabrics and cut squares large enough to fit your heart. Apply some Heat-n-Bond to the wrong side of all pieces.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X6sHJjNI/AAAAAAAABiE/s-HUmdwNSF0/s1600/DSCN4705.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="136" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X6sHJjNI/AAAAAAAABiE/s-HUmdwNSF0/s320/DSCN4705.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now flip those babies over and trace your heart pattern onto the back</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X8HTSORI/AAAAAAAABiI/WI9MYbl2C2Y/s1600/DSCN4707.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="311" s5="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X8HTSORI/AAAAAAAABiI/WI9MYbl2C2Y/s320/DSCN4707.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">and cut the suckers out.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X_PfupxI/AAAAAAAABiM/ZbTQJLSErns/s1600/DSCN4710.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="123" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-X_PfupxI/AAAAAAAABiM/ZbTQJLSErns/s320/DSCN4710.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Next I cut off a long strip of a canvas drop cloth and ironed the hearts onto it in a row, leaving enough space in between each heart that I can cut them apart and fit them into an 8x8 frame.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-YBHiXT8I/AAAAAAAABiQ/PwVDlXhyGfQ/s1600/DSCN4713.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-YBHiXT8I/AAAAAAAABiQ/PwVDlXhyGfQ/s320/DSCN4713.jpg" width="278" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then cut in between each one and sew the hearts down. I did a zig-zag stitch at less than a 1 length and at a 5 width and went all the way around each one.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-YDIMszpI/AAAAAAAABiU/opAFVWqglyA/s1600/DSCN4715.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="237" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT-YDIMszpI/AAAAAAAABiU/opAFVWqglyA/s320/DSCN4715.jpg" width="320" /></span></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then I took my 8x8 frames, taped the canvases down around the cardboard on the inside and placed them inside.</span></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TUBlzTpDFCI/AAAAAAAABiY/xRDFwb5ro5A/s1600/DSCN4721%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TUBlzTpDFCI/AAAAAAAABiY/xRDFwb5ro5A/s320/DSCN4721%255B1%255D.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When that was done, I cut out the words <span style="color: #cc0000;">SWAK</span>, <span style="color: #cc0000;">LOVE</span>, and<span style="color: #cc0000;"> KISS ME</span> out of vinyl and applied them to the glass on the outside of the frame and that is it!</span></div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TUBl6nISv_I/AAAAAAAABic/X0o6gjp2_xg/s1600/DSCN4723%255B1%255D.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" s5="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TUBl6nISv_I/AAAAAAAABic/X0o6gjp2_xg/s320/DSCN4723%255B1%255D.jpg" width="178" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />

When we do giveaways and pick a commenter, we like to show the comment in the winner post, as do most blogs. Now a lot of people may have already known this, but for me, anytime I wanted to do that I would have to press the PrtSc (Print Screen) button, paste it into paint or some other editing program, crop out the part of the page that I want to use, save it as a picture, then upload it onto the post. It gets the job done but is kind of a pain in the butt. Well if you have Windows Vista or newer there is a cool program called Snipping Tool that is found in the accessories when you go to all programs (same place as the calculator and paint). Now if you ever want to snip out a comment or anything else for that matter, all you have to do is have the page pulled up that you want to copy from</span></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT5GkS7PHqI/AAAAAAAABh0/XxPR6T8CE7M/s1600/snip1.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="356" s5="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT5GkS7PHqI/AAAAAAAABh0/XxPR6T8CE7M/s640/snip1.png" width="640" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then pull up the snipping tool, it will look like this</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT5GnFywTnI/AAAAAAAABh4/8UWjgR1wq1M/s1600/snip2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="358" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TT5GnFywTnI/AAAAAAAABh4/8UWjgR1wq1M/s640/snip2.png" width="640" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

This was my last little finishing touch for the outfit. This was a pretty simple little project and took about a minute to whip up. I started with a rectangle of left-over fabric from the skirt. Mine was about 6X20", feel free to adjust the size for however large you would like the flower. Fold the rectangle over hamburger way and sew the ends together to form a loop.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuMhwmuLQI/AAAAAAAABgY/X0m4Cgx9pck/s1600/1435.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuMhwmuLQI/AAAAAAAABgY/X0m4Cgx9pck/s320/1435.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then fold the loop in half hotdog way.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuMqCK4CZI/AAAAAAAABgc/Pu0aKM4S7Es/s1600/1436.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuMqCK4CZI/AAAAAAAABgc/Pu0aKM4S7Es/s320/1436.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
No take a needle and thread and sew a large basting stitch around the open end of the loop.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuMygrpWbI/AAAAAAAABgg/aSdFGbVkuTY/s1600/1437.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuMygrpWbI/AAAAAAAABgg/aSdFGbVkuTY/s320/1437.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNLzoZ69I/AAAAAAAABgs/IZiBqtTvxyM/s1600/1440.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNLzoZ69I/AAAAAAAABgs/IZiBqtTvxyM/s320/1440.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
When you've sewn all the way around pull the thread tight to bunch it into a flower shape.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNT-41PfI/AAAAAAAABgw/Zo6W0BPIFec/s1600/1441.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNT-41PfI/AAAAAAAABgw/Zo6W0BPIFec/s320/1441.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And sew through the bunched area to secure.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNkmyzJ7I/AAAAAAAABg4/mpV8AatGiuU/s1600/1443.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNkmyzJ7I/AAAAAAAABg4/mpV8AatGiuU/s320/1443.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
And attach a bling button to the center of the flower.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNss71PZI/AAAAAAAABg8/gt-dcy7Ecyg/s1600/1444.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuNss71PZI/AAAAAAAABg8/gt-dcy7Ecyg/s320/1444.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuN0yXvkVI/AAAAAAAABhA/7yoleAZTKFk/s1600/1445.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuN0yXvkVI/AAAAAAAABhA/7yoleAZTKFk/s320/1445.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Now take some Russian netting and cut a piece that is 2" longer and 2" wider than the flower. Find the middle point on the netting and tie a knot on the end of the row.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOs2kAkuI/AAAAAAAABhY/EfEWmA3o2ts/s1600/DSCN4685.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="204" s5="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOs2kAkuI/AAAAAAAABhY/EfEWmA3o2ts/s320/DSCN4685.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Then weave back and forth throught the row of netting<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOwGeggII/AAAAAAAABhc/tSVrb-XcNxM/s1600/DSCN4693.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOwGeggII/AAAAAAAABhc/tSVrb-XcNxM/s320/DSCN4693.jpg" width="262" /></a></div><br />
and pull the thread taut to bunch the netting.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOzGdubvI/AAAAAAAABhg/nMoTESAyUd4/s1600/DSCN4700.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="271" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOzGdubvI/AAAAAAAABhg/nMoTESAyUd4/s320/DSCN4700.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And sew it down to the bottom middle of the flower.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOSKlmmQI/AAAAAAAABhI/Yg34bsy4Hx4/s1600/1447.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOSKlmmQI/AAAAAAAABhI/Yg34bsy4Hx4/s320/1447.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
From there, sew the loose edges down across the flower.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOaLKEaSI/AAAAAAAABhM/oFhTJM3oEvI/s1600/1448.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOaLKEaSI/AAAAAAAABhM/oFhTJM3oEvI/s320/1448.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I found this cute little fray of feathers at Michaels for a couple of bucks.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOiQhoS4I/AAAAAAAABhQ/LaLCvuuLHg0/s1600/1449.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOiQhoS4I/AAAAAAAABhQ/LaLCvuuLHg0/s320/1449.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
Just hot glue it onto the headpiece, in-between the flower and netting. I also hot glued the button down to secure it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOqQCHAKI/AAAAAAAABhU/p2lEjGgT72M/s1600/1450.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" s5="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuOqQCHAKI/AAAAAAAABhU/p2lEjGgT72M/s320/1450.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">To finish it off, I just hot glued the entire thing onto a thick headband, and there you go!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuO0b1Y0HI/AAAAAAAABhk/_7FPLF-NbSw/s1600/5347590689_4190d17374_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" s5="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuO0b1Y0HI/AAAAAAAABhk/_7FPLF-NbSw/s400/5347590689_4190d17374_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuO2S8dCqI/AAAAAAAABho/dzqDn5rrLss/s1600/5347590005_4cc47965b9_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" s5="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTuO2S8dCqI/AAAAAAAABho/dzqDn5rrLss/s640/5347590005_4cc47965b9_b.jpg" width="444" /></a></div><br />
**Disclaimer** This headpiece is rather large and would be great for like, a wedding or a special occassion, or a photo prop, but I would probably not wear it to like, Walmart. But I suppose that is the great thing about Walmart, if you felt like wearing it there then I suppose you can, but again, I, personally, wouldn't :)<br />

<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Until then, here is the tutorial for the Prairie Chunky Necklace.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZec6PRqDI/AAAAAAAABf8/ncAFJ7DQInA/s1600/5348200208_ac409fc1af_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZec6PRqDI/AAAAAAAABf8/ncAFJ7DQInA/s640/5348200208_ac409fc1af_b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Here is a pic of all of the different fabulous stuff that I used for this necklace. Every item here was purchased at Michaels, but feel free to mix it up, use what you like, find a length that works for you, and what fits your style.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZeEjYpzZI/AAAAAAAABfk/EfM_5pYLKKA/s1600/DSCN4657.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZeEjYpzZI/AAAAAAAABfk/EfM_5pYLKKA/s320/DSCN4657.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I've got four different styles of chains, 2 different types of beads, some fabric strips, a flower embellishment bead, eyepins, split rings, and some jewelry pliers.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial;">I started with the base of the necklace. I took about 7 inches of a plain chain and attached a split ring onto one end.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZco5GtxGI/AAAAAAAABew/gCear2NzAaM/s1600/1456.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZco5GtxGI/AAAAAAAABew/gCear2NzAaM/s320/1456.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">I attached the flower to the split ring and then added another split ring to the bottom of the flower. The fabric strip is then threaded through the bottom split ring.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZcs2gu3KI/AAAAAAAABe0/vEYXsF2w4k4/s1600/1459.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZcs2gu3KI/AAAAAAAABe0/vEYXsF2w4k4/s320/1459.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I then tied the fabric strip in a bow and then looped another split ring through the bottom of the bow.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZcxzcQGHI/AAAAAAAABe4/nyVqqZQ39Cs/s1600/1462.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="212" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZcxzcQGHI/AAAAAAAABe4/nyVqqZQ39Cs/s320/1462.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">To this split ring, I attached the entire big chain and then connected it back to the small chain at the beginning.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdRWl0opI/AAAAAAAABfE/ieMWg5qfW6Q/s1600/1468.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdRWl0opI/AAAAAAAABfE/ieMWg5qfW6Q/s320/1468.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Next I started on the bead chain. The first step is to use the eyepins in all of the beads.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZc6X3oijI/AAAAAAAABe8/9QkmXZ2KgTU/s1600/1465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZc6X3oijI/AAAAAAAABe8/9QkmXZ2KgTU/s320/1465.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Slide each bead onto the eyepin and then clip with the wire cutters and curl the end with the round pliers.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdU-U00eI/AAAAAAAABfI/vHsmPW4TdxI/s1600/1470.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdU-U00eI/AAAAAAAABfI/vHsmPW4TdxI/s320/1470.JPG" width="212" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdDKGF6PI/AAAAAAAABfA/xQQFSxdgC58/s1600/1467.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdDKGF6PI/AAAAAAAABfA/xQQFSxdgC58/s320/1467.JPG" width="213" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">When they are all done they will look something like this:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZeXEXBBYI/AAAAAAAABfs/Uf16m1tybBU/s1600/DSCN4663.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZeXEXBBYI/AAAAAAAABfs/Uf16m1tybBU/s320/DSCN4663.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">(I realize that I am showing the incorrect amount of beads in this picture, so just squint you eyes and pretend that there are 6 round beads and 3 square beads.)</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now start attaching the beads together with the split rings like so</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZddTsQgVI/AAAAAAAABfQ/0F6k1R7WZdE/s1600/1473.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZddTsQgVI/AAAAAAAABfQ/0F6k1R7WZdE/s320/1473.JPG" width="213" /></span></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">I used my smallest chain on this one. My pattern was chain-circle-circle-square-chain-circle-square-circle-chain-square-circle-circle-chain. HA! Does that make any kind of sense at all? No? Well here's a picture...</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdiysJBzI/AAAAAAAABfU/vN5BgZNuZvg/s1600/1474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZdiysJBzI/AAAAAAAABfU/vN5BgZNuZvg/s320/1474.JPG" width="213" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Then attach split rings on the ends and attach it to the flower chain at the top of the flower on one side and at the top of the big chain on the other side.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZds9ZXHiI/AAAAAAAABfY/8sTY9Z5j9gg/s1600/1475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZds9ZXHiI/AAAAAAAABfY/8sTY9Z5j9gg/s320/1475.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Next I took my medium size chain and measured it so it would fall in-between the two finished chains, and attached it again with split rings.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZd2usDW7I/AAAAAAAABfc/2mC2yTmCFYs/s1600/1477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZd2usDW7I/AAAAAAAABfc/2mC2yTmCFYs/s320/1477.JPG" width="240" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">(That's Ruth trying to get out of the picture in the background. haha!)</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And to finish it off I measured one more piece of medium chain to go at the top so it fell the same distance as the middle two and attached it. (Are you confused yet? Don't worry, lots of pictures!)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZd9_ElMEI/AAAAAAAABfg/_vPCBs1CIcw/s1600/1478.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZd9_ElMEI/AAAAAAAABfg/_vPCBs1CIcw/s320/1478.JPG" width="212" /></span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And that's it! I love it. I love me some bold chunky jewelry that just screams, "LOOK AT ME!". I like to dress simply and embellish with jewels and accessories, and this one is just soooo fun, right?</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZebSXKxoI/AAAAAAAABf4/qNdb1q_z3js/s1600/5347591309_5368674e95_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZebSXKxoI/AAAAAAAABf4/qNdb1q_z3js/s640/5347591309_5368674e95_b.jpg" width="426" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZec6PRqDI/AAAAAAAABf8/ncAFJ7DQInA/s1600/5348200208_ac409fc1af_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TTZec6PRqDI/AAAAAAAABf8/ncAFJ7DQInA/s640/5348200208_ac409fc1af_b.jpg" width="425" /></a></div><div align="center" style="text-align: center;"></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1346025251456706121-1711698432141681956?l=scrapsnstrings.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Sammy Richinshttps://profiles.google.com/105804183097629154708noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1346025251456706121.post-87694106813631690252011-01-18T15:19:00.000-07:002011-01-18T15:19:17.956-07:002011-01-18T15:19:17.956-07:00Oh Facebook<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">The all new remodeled Paisley & Me now has an all new Facebook Page! I am so excited to be showing you all my Prairie Princess Skirt today. I'm pretty sure that it is my all-time favorite thing that I've ever made. It is so versitile and light and extremely frou-frou, which is awesome! Lets get this started.</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="640" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS5M_syYXfI/AAAAAAAABdQ/53Dc05Rvbes/s640/5347587099_ae67830988_b.jpg" width="426" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">You'll need:</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">3 yard of cotton gauze (I found mine at Joanns)</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">2 inch elastic(enough to fit around your waist, plus an inch)</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">32 6-in pieces of ribbon or some other kind of tie</span></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">freezer paper</span></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">First step is to cut out a triangle shape</span> from your freezer paper with a flat top and rounded bottom. My length from top to bottom was roughly 42 inches and the width at the bottom was the width of the freezer paper and the top was approximately 5 inches.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS4zHP2ALxI/AAAAAAAABbk/dok5b7js0jw/s1600/1398.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS4zHP2ALxI/AAAAAAAABbk/dok5b7js0jw/s320/1398.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Now lay out the gauze on a flat surface and iron the freezer paper onto the fabric. Make sure that the fabric is turned so that the lines on the gauze will be vertical.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS40WGY7QzI/AAAAAAAABbs/10pu3s-L0RI/s1600/1402.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS40WGY7QzI/AAAAAAAABbs/10pu3s-L0RI/s320/1402.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now cut out around the pattern</span>. <span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Repeat these steps for a total of 8 panels.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS40imb5dFI/AAAAAAAABbw/VzAZeUplm6c/s1600/1405.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS40imb5dFI/AAAAAAAABbw/VzAZeUplm6c/s320/1405.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Next step is to begin sewing the panels together from top to bottom. I serged mine, but feel free to use a regular sewing machine if that's all you have.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS40t4uhcEI/AAAAAAAABb0/esuxYpEzcAc/s1600/1407.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS40t4uhcEI/AAAAAAAABb0/esuxYpEzcAc/s320/1407.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Sew all all of the panels together but do not close the skirt. It should look like this:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS4059iCsTI/AAAAAAAABb4/kKoA9MF93eo/s1600/1409.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS4059iCsTI/AAAAAAAABb4/kKoA9MF93eo/s320/1409.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Now take a tape measurer and measure from the top of the skirt down 41 inches and pin that length all the way around.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41E-RDYvI/AAAAAAAABb8/umCH3GGSvqA/s1600/1410.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41E-RDYvI/AAAAAAAABb8/umCH3GGSvqA/s320/1410.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41QRUpTyI/AAAAAAAABcA/YqRv7IwcJNE/s1600/1412.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41QRUpTyI/AAAAAAAABcA/YqRv7IwcJNE/s320/1412.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Now attach the last two panels to get the skirts shape and then I used my serger to go around and finish the bottom of the skirt and cut off the excess fabric in one step. If you don't have a serger, simply cut off the excess fabric and do a rolled hem on the bottom.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41bJqdhFI/AAAAAAAABcE/4YwPF12WB7Q/s1600/1415.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41bJqdhFI/AAAAAAAABcE/4YwPF12WB7Q/s320/1415.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41l28FvjI/AAAAAAAABcI/oqu_vput-dc/s1600/1416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41l28FvjI/AAAAAAAABcI/oqu_vput-dc/s320/1416.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41wu8IhYI/AAAAAAAABcM/ekMCjW2HWn4/s1600/1417.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS41wu8IhYI/AAAAAAAABcM/ekMCjW2HWn4/s320/1417.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Now we'll prepare the elastic. I used Dana of <a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/">MADE</a>'s method of sewing and attaching the elastic for her circle skirt and you can find it <a href="http://www.dana-made-it.com/2008/07/tutorial-circle-skirt.html">here</a>.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS417grUXFI/AAAAAAAABcQ/2o4FGfPUFog/s1600/1418.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS417grUXFI/AAAAAAAABcQ/2o4FGfPUFog/s320/1418.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">Then if you have a serger go ahead and finish the top of the skirt.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS42RNfnm0I/AAAAAAAABcY/lsUgyB5qTOg/s1600/1426.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS42RNfnm0I/AAAAAAAABcY/lsUgyB5qTOg/s320/1426.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">And attach the elastic to the skirt. It should look like this:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS42cEptxJI/AAAAAAAABcc/Bsh8h-jtcWM/s1600/1427.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS42cEptxJI/AAAAAAAABcc/Bsh8h-jtcWM/s320/1427.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
</div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Ok now this is the fun part. Turn your skirt inside out and we'll start pinning where we want the ribbon. Place a tape measurer at the seam on the elastic and starting on the front middle seam place a pin at 8in, 15in, 17in, and 24in.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS42yq4478I/AAAAAAAABck/Cy5EfdPUupo/s1600/1429.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS42yq4478I/AAAAAAAABck/Cy5EfdPUupo/s320/1429.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Move to the next seam and this time you will move the tape measurer up 4 inches and then again pin at 8, 15, 17, and 24.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS429mKdo6I/AAAAAAAABco/nHgDZTD4KbM/s1600/1430.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" n4="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS429mKdo6I/AAAAAAAABco/nHgDZTD4KbM/s320/1430.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center"></div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Alternate the 4 inches up and down the rest of the seams, so every other seam is going to have the ribbons 4 inches higher. </div><div align="center"><span style="font-family: Arial;">It will look like this with all of the ties sewn on:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS5OwK3u-5I/AAAAAAAABdg/qJ44GKBk_ZE/s1600/1434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" n4="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TS5OwK3u-5I/AAAAAAAABdg/qJ44GKBk_ZE/s320/1434.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

So I decided to make my own and I thought that I would share a quick tutorial on how to do it! I used microsoft publisher because I know that not everyone has Photoshop (I wish!!).</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The first thing that you do is open up a blank page in publisher. Use the auto shapes to make a circle on the page.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5btltbvI/AAAAAAAABYY/qBwVtlGVA6E/s1600/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5btltbvI/AAAAAAAABYY/qBwVtlGVA6E/s400/1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center">Next right click on the circle and go down to "Format AutoShape". Click on the size tab and set the height and width that you would like. I did 3 inches. Then check the "Lock aspect ratio" box so that if you need to resize anything, your shape will stay in a circle.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5chsPY1I/AAAAAAAABYc/hSThXh6QcUI/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5chsPY1I/AAAAAAAABYc/hSThXh6QcUI/s640/2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center">Now copy the circle and paste it back down, then resize it to just a little bit smaller and place it inside of the larger circle.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5dVWP1WI/AAAAAAAABYg/WFoCeJ0f70E/s1600/3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5dVWP1WI/AAAAAAAABYg/WFoCeJ0f70E/s400/3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Next I opened up a second publisher document and inserted a picture from file of a sheet of scrapbook paper. For this I used paper from <a href="http://shabbyprincess.com/">Shabby Princess</a>. They have a ton of cute papers and they are free-ninety-nine. Sweet! Decrease the size of the paper to a similar size of your circles. After it is resized, right click on the image and click on "Save as picture". Repeat this step for a second coordinating paper.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5eA9gfMI/AAAAAAAABYk/6Ijy3EEB1oE/s1600/4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5eA9gfMI/AAAAAAAABYk/6Ijy3EEB1oE/s640/4.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now right click on the larger circle and click on "Format AutoShape" again.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5fDmbDvI/AAAAAAAABYo/P8VMEr348b0/s1600/5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5fDmbDvI/AAAAAAAABYo/P8VMEr348b0/s640/5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Under the "Colors and Lines" tab, click on the arrow for the fill color and click on "Fill Effects".</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5fx4_zJI/AAAAAAAABYs/jJ8am64SXU0/s1600/6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5fx4_zJI/AAAAAAAABYs/jJ8am64SXU0/s640/6.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now click on the "Picture" tab and then click on the "Select Picture" button. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5gyuIl3I/AAAAAAAABYw/qLjXKOMVrI8/s1600/7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5gyuIl3I/AAAAAAAABYw/qLjXKOMVrI8/s640/7.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Find the picture of the downsized scrapbook paper and select it. Then hit ok.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5hvu5qcI/AAAAAAAABY0/jAAwhEqUs78/s1600/8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5hvu5qcI/AAAAAAAABY0/jAAwhEqUs78/s640/8.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">It should now look like this.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5i32_e4I/AAAAAAAABY4/LmNC1M6Dep8/s1600/9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5i32_e4I/AAAAAAAABY4/LmNC1M6Dep8/s400/9.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Repeat these steps for the inner circle with your coordinating paper. Now your basic circle topper is made.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm6OFJMl3I/AAAAAAAABZI/fIuK0PwWSzs/s1600/13.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm6OFJMl3I/AAAAAAAABZI/fIuK0PwWSzs/s400/13.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Now insert some cute text inside your circle. I used a font called "Lima Bean" that can be found <a href="http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/">here</a> along with a ton of other cute fonts. Again, free. I love :)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5oMKGx0I/AAAAAAAABY8/9hMdq41njSE/s1600/10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5oMKGx0I/AAAAAAAABY8/9hMdq41njSE/s640/10.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Then add a fun little graphic to make it uber cute. This tree comes with the holiday magic pack from <a href="http://www.shabbyprincess.com/">Shabby Princess</a>. (The paper is from the same pack.) I also changed the font color to match.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5o9CXsGI/AAAAAAAABZA/ODQWIxrv8pM/s1600/11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5o9CXsGI/AAAAAAAABZA/ODQWIxrv8pM/s640/11.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Then I did a quick select all and copied the image then pasted it multiple times for the amount that I needed.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5p4KY2dI/AAAAAAAABZE/IpQHM5ZdLLQ/s1600/12.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOm5p4KY2dI/AAAAAAAABZE/IpQHM5ZdLLQ/s400/12.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Then print those babies off and cut them out. Easy Peasy and super cute, and FREE!! Whoo-hoo! Give it a try for your next party and get a look exactly how you like it!</div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1346025251456706121-2782112632141037248?l=scrapsnstrings.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Sammy Richinshttps://profiles.google.com/105804183097629154708noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1346025251456706121.post-22809871963006015372010-11-20T18:17:00.000-07:002010-11-20T18:17:19.743-07:002010-11-20T18:17:19.743-07:00Christmas with CSN<div style="text-align: center;">With Christmas right around the corner, life is getting a little bit hectic. So many people to buy for with so many different tastes and interests. That's why this year I will be doing most of my Christmas shopping with CSN Stores. With a mom who loves <a href="http://www.allbarstools.com/">kitchen bar stools</a>, and a dad who couldn't be happier than if he got a new <a href="http://www.csnchairs.com/">computer chair</a>, heck, even my dog could use a <a href="http://www.simplydogbeds.com/">new bed</a> for Christmas! Plus loads and loads of great baby and toddler toys, gifts, and puzzles.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOhyrCYX6GI/AAAAAAAABYM/JDjFRfUPTwo/s1600/2-in-1%252BLego%252Band%252BTrain%252BActivity%252BTable.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TOhyrCYX6GI/AAAAAAAABYM/JDjFRfUPTwo/s320/2-in-1%252BLego%252Band%252BTrain%252BActivity%252BTable.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

I am way excited to be here at Scraps n Strings! These ladies have the cutest ideas! Speaking of cute...let me introduce my blog...</div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://makingtheworldcuter.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><img alt="Making" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/mtwcbutton1.png" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;">I have been married for nearly 9 years to one McDreamy lookalike, and have had 4 beautiful children with him...(our latest edition is not pictured here, as he is only 4 weeks old, and we have yet to get a decent family pic yet!)</div><img alt="" border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kQOImJU9M7M/Sx12j8I_TvI/AAAAAAAAFvM/qTRSlXhSalk/s400/Christmas+Pictures+190+%282%29+%281%29.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 267px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">We are students, and I like to save money, especially on kids toys. If I do spend money on them, I want them to last a long time. The best of both worlds is if I can spend very little money, make them myself and have them last a long long time! </span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">One of my favorite projects is making blocks for my kids. Blocks are timeless, inspire imagination and help them with their motor skills. They make great gifts for baby showers and birthday parties and the best part-they are relatively inexpensive.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br />
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">I have a tutorial for you here to make cuter blocks than anything you'll find in a store.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">First your supplies...<br />
You'll need modge podge, a couple different colors of paint, at least one sponge brush and wood. I like to have a couple different sizes so that I get a good variety of blocks-so I have a 2x4 and a 2x3.</span><br />
<img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/supplies.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Next you will need to pick out your stickers-these are Doodlebug Designs, and I used both sheets. A good set of blocks though, only needs about 10 different stickers, so keep your eyes open for something that your kids will love. My set ended up having well over 30-a bit much, but my kids LOVE blocks. </span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/StickersBT.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Next cut out your stickers leaving the backs on, this will make it easier to measure the size of your blocks.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/cutupstickers.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Now take your stickers and place them on the wood, using a ruler or something else with a straight edge, mark the size you would like each block with a pencil, remembering to leave room for the saw blade and what will be taken off in the sanding process.</span><span class="Apple-style-span"><br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span">Then label each block with what sticker goes on it for reference later on, this is especially helpful if you are doing a lot of blocks.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/measuring.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Then cut your wood...with a saw...unless you don't have a saw...</span><span class="Apple-style-span"><br />
Then, I guess you could use a really sharp butter knife...:)<br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span">Then you have this.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/CutupBlocks.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Then comes the tedious part.<br />
The sanding.<br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span">First choose the sanding tool of your choice.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/SandPaperandBlock.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">I of course </span><strike><span class="Apple-style-span">do not</span></strike><span class="Apple-style-span"> like to kick it old school, so the natural </span><strike><span class="Apple-style-span">I had no</span></strike><span class="Apple-style-span"> choice was to sand by hand. </span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Sanding.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">I now have a belt sander, because of this project. But at the time of writing this tutorial I had to rely on a piece of sandpaper<br />
Anyway back to the tutorial at hand...<br />
<br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span">Here are all the sanded beasts.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/SandedandSaluting.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">As you can see I labled the table where I set the block after being sanded, because I sanded off some of the labels on the blocks, and I am about to cover the rest with paint.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Namethem.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">See? Depending on the color of your base coat, you might have to do two coats like I did.<br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span">Then you are going to let them dry before mixing your paint for the edges.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Paintit.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">For the edges you'll want to water your paint down a little bit, and you won't need very much paint for this step. </span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/PaintandWater.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Now paint the edges around your block, it's alright if it's a little messy.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/PainttheEdges.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Get all the edges....</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/AllSides.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Then take a napkin or a paper towel and wipe it off!</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/WipingitClean.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Then you will have this distressed effect around your edges.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/PaintedandWiped.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">I got a little messy on mine, and I like it, all the blocks are unique and I think look really cool.</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Uniqueness.jpg" style="display: block; height: 426px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 640px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">After you are all done with your edges, it's time to put the stickers on.</span><br />
<a href="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Addyourstickers.jpg"><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Addyourstickers.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /></a><span class="Apple-style-span">My kids helped me with this part, giving the animals food, coconuts in the trees, birds on the hippo's back (that's what they do mom, we saw it on Wonder Pets).</span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Placeallstickers.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /><span class="Apple-style-span">Now we are onto the next tedious part.<br />
Modge Podge.<br />
These blocks take SEVERAL coats if you want to make sure the stickers actually become part of the block.<br />
</span><span class="Apple-style-span">Which you do, right?</span><br />
<img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/ModgePodge.jpg" style="display: block; height: 427px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /> <br />
<div><span class="Apple-style-span">It's all worth it in the end though-you have a great set of blocks, that will last for years and years. </span><img alt="" border="0" src="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Finished.jpg" style="display: block; height: 402px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 641px;" /></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">Your kids might even pass them down to their kids.</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">How fun is that?</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span"><br />
</span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span">Thanks so much ladies, it's been a blast taking over your blog for the day! </span></div><div><div><a href="http://i367.photobucket.com/albums/oo119/tiffhewlett/Crafty%20Stuff/Finished.jpg"></a> </div></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/1346025251456706121-7659484825463942755?l=scrapsnstrings.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>Sammy Richinshttps://profiles.google.com/105804183097629154708noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1346025251456706121.post-77243730522530919082010-10-14T18:40:00.000-06:002010-10-14T18:40:32.257-06:002010-10-14T18:40:32.257-06:00Spooky Caramel Apples<div align="center">I'm just gonna say it. I don't do Halloween. I know. Don't hate me. I do costumes for my boys and we also do the whole trunk-or-treat thing, but as far as decorating and all of that goes, it just doesn't happen at my house. I'm lucky if I get Christmas up with my two little guys! But I do love caramel apples. I love them anytime of the year really. I decided that it would be a fun little gift for my hubs to give to his home teaching families. <br />
<br />
So here are my caramel apples- <em>SPOOKIFIED</em>!!</div><div align="center"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeYQ9mz9jI/AAAAAAAABT4/JLLI1DVrb_k/s1600/DSCN4365.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeYQ9mz9jI/AAAAAAAABT4/JLLI1DVrb_k/s320/DSCN4365.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">To start out I melted a couple of bags of Caramel Bits. These things rock, no unwrapping involved. :) They can be found in the baking aisle with the chocolate chips.</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeWhhWWdNI/AAAAAAAABS8/G7IMAnVbaOU/s1600/DSCN4341.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeWhhWWdNI/AAAAAAAABS8/G7IMAnVbaOU/s320/DSCN4341.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br />
And while I was waiting I stuck popsicle sticks into my apples. (I only had 5 so the rest I just stuck spoons in, and kept those for the kiddos to decorate.)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeWsB-hKSI/AAAAAAAABTA/_pjpM0iJYbU/s1600/DSCN4342.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeWsB-hKSI/AAAAAAAABTA/_pjpM0iJYbU/s320/DSCN4342.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div align="center">Melt the caramel until it's nice and smooth like this.</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeW0TgAzoI/AAAAAAAABTE/6ll3OxQA3uw/s1600/DSCN4344.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeW0TgAzoI/AAAAAAAABTE/6ll3OxQA3uw/s320/DSCN4344.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Then tip the pot so that all of the caramel goes to one side and roll the apples in. Then set them on a pan covered with wax paper that has been sprayed with non-stick spray. After they are all covered, stick your pan o' apples in the fridge for about 15-20 minutes, or until the caramel sets.</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeW8oZ8_AI/AAAAAAAABTI/f4DcV9laY_o/s1600/DSCN4345.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeW8oZ8_AI/AAAAAAAABTI/f4DcV9laY_o/s320/DSCN4345.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">While your apples are setting, melt your chocolate with about 2 tbsp of cooking oil (I just used milk chocolate chips) and find a little something to dip the apples in. I used crushed peanuts but you can use crushed candy bars or leave them with just chocolate.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXFLuJkwI/AAAAAAAABTM/PdbwGkrNAdM/s1600/DSCN4346.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXFLuJkwI/AAAAAAAABTM/PdbwGkrNAdM/s320/DSCN4346.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div align="center" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
Take your apples out and dip those babies in the chocolate. Dip them immediately into your nuts or candy if you choose that route. Set them on a new piece of sprayed wax paper and throw them back in the fridge until the chocolate sets.</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXKmOk5wI/AAAAAAAABTQ/3N7quIzgHyM/s1600/DSCN4360.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXKmOk5wI/AAAAAAAABTQ/3N7quIzgHyM/s320/DSCN4360.jpg" width="229" /></a></div><div align="center">I don't have specific pics of the next steps, but I then took some Wilton Candy Melts in white, green, and black, and put them in separate ziplock bags. Microwave until melted and then cut off a small corner of each bag and let 'er rip.<br />
<br />

We used the peanuts as "dirt" and did some headstones with creepy letters</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXWj7mGBI/AAAAAAAABTY/-ecjCQjjty8/s1600/DSCN4351.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXWj7mGBI/AAAAAAAABTY/-ecjCQjjty8/s320/DSCN4351.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
And a little ghostie coming out of the grave.</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXfKMI0zI/AAAAAAAABTc/ZZRyMNmO1wc/s1600/DSCN4353.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXfKMI0zI/AAAAAAAABTc/ZZRyMNmO1wc/s320/DSCN4353.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
A silky spider web...</div><div align="center" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXlGcTv8I/AAAAAAAABTg/pr3aEKDf2s0/s1600/DSCN4354.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" ex="true" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_rmJ6P4n2aTw/TLeXlGcTv8I/AAAAAAAABTg/pr3aEKDf2s0/s320/DSCN4354.jpg" width="228" /></a></div><div align="center"><br />
